The [Data] tab is an in-app database that simplifies the deployment of apps at scale by making templates universal. It is located under an app's main navigation tab.
If you are making digital business cards from a template app, this new database will free you from creating individual actions for a user's phone number or email for example.
Many actions now include the option to pull their data from the new in-app database. For example, when one selects the "Pull From Data Tab" option in the following Call Action, it will get the phone number from the associated field in the app's database.
In this example, that phone number will come from the "Mobile" field in the database in the app's [Data] tab.
The result of this mechanism is that you can have a Call Action that is shared by all of a company's digital business cards, such that the action gets each employee's phone number from their app's database.
There are 5 sections to the Data Tab
Collectively, these sections allow one to control most everything that is unique to an individual.
The +General section includes the user's name and contact information.
The +Page Setup Section simplifies the many details of setting up an app.
It provides directions for setting up elements of the Style, App, and SEO tabs in an app.
For example, the setup allows one to choose to use the profile image in multiple positions, including as the app's icon and favicon. Updating the image in the data tab will update all places it is used.
This simplification allows an entire app can be set up by copying a template and completing the basic fields in the data tab.
The + Social URLs section of the data tab is where a user adds their social links.
The + Other Resources section includes creates a central place to store data for special actions.
For example, if every employee business card has an HTML embed for their calendar, then all can share the same HTML action and place their unique embed code in the appropraite field of their data tab.
Finally the + Map Action Address section includes a central place for an address.
